Do you know about our Green Circle Chicken?  It’s a  very special bird which has appeared on CNN with Mike Rowe (click for photos of that adventure), and has attracted the attention of the New York Times. It is the featured bird at Le Coq Rico: The Bistro of Beautiful Birds in New York City, a restaurant dedicated to all things poultry.D'Artagnan Green Circle Chicken in Package

What makes it different?  Ariane always says that a happy chicken is a tasty chicken. This unique chicken was inspired by the common sense, waste-nothing philosophy of days past, when chickens lived on vegetable scraps and roamed freely around farmyards and pastureland.

In that tradition, we raise our chickens on a diet of surplus vegetables and trimmings collected from commercial kitchens and farmer’s markets. By saving these vegetables from their fate in a landfill and turning them into nutritious chicken feed, we raise healthier birds and contribute to a better world.

Not only are they fed well, these chickens are certified humane, making them rare birds indeed. They are air-chilled during processing, which means you get nothing but pure chicken flavor, not retained water.

Our holistic approach produces truly wholesome results. And that’s why we call it a Green Circle chicken. No waste = great taste.

Fun Food Fact: The National Chicken Council estimates that our per capita consumption of chicken will be 92.1 pounds in 2016. We say if you’re going to eat that much chicken, it better be the good stuff!
