7 Recipes for Mom on Her Day

Mother’s Day usually means brunch, and we love to support the many restaurants that carry our products by encouraging you to take mom out for a meal. But if you are staying in, and want to make something special for her, look at our recipes for inspiration.

Mother’s Day is next Sunday – May 14th – so plan your menu this weekend, and shop for the items you need at dartagnan.com.

These seven recipes from the D’Artagnan test kitchen offer entrees and special flourishes that are perfect for creating a memorable brunch. A bouquet of flowers on the table is a must.

1. BREAKFAST BURGER

Four happy campers can enjoy our breakfast burgers, which are the perfect brunch. This bistro classic is made with our tasty buffalo, hickory bacon (of course) and zesty mayo inspired by our favorite morning cocktail. Don’t let the name fool you, this protein-packed burger is delicious any time of day.

2. BACON JAM

This is one of those little extras that shows you went the extra mile. Bacon jam is a sweet & salty condiment that’s excellent on burgers, used like chutney with grilled and roasted meats, or just slathered on your favorite toasted bread. We like to serve it on a charcuterie platter. If mom loves bacon, this is definitely her jam.

3. FOIE GRAS CRÈME BRÛLÉE

You may need to double or triple this recipe if the whole family is brunching together. In that case, choose our foie gras cubes, which offer the most value and come in 1 lb bags. Stored in the freezer, these come in handy.
Creamy, sweet custard is enriched with foie gras in this luxurious recipe, made for two. Serve as a dessert or as an appetizer with toasted brioche and Sauternes.

4. WILD MUSHROOMS WITH TRUFFLED SOFT POLENTA & PARMESAN

This comforting recipe comes together quickly and will work with a poached egg on top. Any combination of wild and cultivated mushrooms will work, so use your favorites or what’s in season. Don’t skip the miso paste – it adds depth and a boost of umami.

6. BACON & ONION TARTE

Here’s our version of Andre Soltner’s famous Tarte Flambée. Sort of a sophisticated version of pizza, it makes a great brunch. Plus it’s easy to make with frozen puff pastry. Our salty ventrèche and luscious crème fraȋche make it irresistible.

7. CAULIFLOWER MOUSSE WITH CAVIAR

Maybe mom has a taste for the finer things in life. In that case, give her caviar. Our briny French caviar is the shining star of this elegant appetizer with creamy cauliflower mousse playing an award-worthy supporting role.
