7 of Our Favorite Comfort Food Recipes

Today is National Comfort Food Day!

Comfort food is a very personal thing; it can be a recipe from childhood, a culturally specific dish, or just something that fits a certain craving. Sweet, savory, fatty, salty, cheesy – they all fit the bill. Comforting foods tend to be simple, hearty, and filling.

We love all kinds of comfort foods, but we had to narrow it down to just seven here. Read on for our favorite comforting recipes.

1. Bacon & Cheddar Scones

Bacon? Check. Cheese? Check. These easy-to-make scones have crispy edges, a flaky yet tender interior, and are packed with flavor from our Applewood Smoked Bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and fresh chives. They’re equally delicious split and filled with scrambled eggs for brunch or simply eaten on their own, fresh from the oven.

2. Cheesy Chorizo Twice-Baked Potatoes

Twice baked potatoes take a little work, but they’re definitely worth it. This version has creamy fontina cheese and spicy chorizo, making it delicious as either a side dish or a light supper if served with a salad. Substitute merguez, andouille, or one of our game sausages; just make sure raw sausage gets fully cooked.

3. Spicy Cajun-Style Jambalaya

This quick-cooking, one-pot jambalaya is satisfying and super easy to make. Tender chicken, shrimp, andouille sausage, and Tasso Ham create a hearty meal with layers of flavor and texture. Comforting indeed!
