Today is National Comfort Food Day!
Comfort food is a very personal thing; it can be a recipe from childhood, a culturally specific dish, or just something that fits a certain craving. Sweet, savory, fatty, salty, cheesy – they all fit the bill. Comforting foods tend to be simple, hearty, and filling.
We love all kinds of comfort foods, but we had to narrow it down to just seven here. Read on for our favorite comforting recipes.
Bacon? Check. Cheese? Check. These easy-to-make scones have crispy edges, a flaky yet tender interior, and are packed with flavor from our Applewood Smoked Bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and fresh chives. They’re equally delicious split and filled with scrambled eggs for brunch or simply eaten on their own, fresh from the oven.
Twice baked potatoes take a little work, but they’re definitely worth it. This version has creamy fontina cheese and spicy chorizo, making it delicious as either a side dish or a light supper if served with a salad. Substitute merguez, andouille, or one of our game sausages; just make sure raw sausage gets fully cooked.
This quick-cooking, one-pot jambalaya is satisfying and super easy to make. Tender chicken, shrimp, andouille sausage, and Tasso Ham create a hearty meal with layers of flavor and texture. Comforting indeed!
Rich, creamy, and ready in less than 20 minutes? Yes! This easy carbonara is your go-to meal when you want comfort food and you want it now. Smoky duck bacon makes this satisfying dish extra-special.
This easy slow cooker recipe yields tender meat and a rich sauce. Not only delicious as is, the leftover meat can be shredded for BBQ boar sandwiches, wild boar tacos, or even pulled boar nachos. The possibilities are endless.
Part-pancake, part-custard, part-soufflé, and totally delicious – this Dutch baby with candied bacon is what brunch dreams are made of. Best part, it’s ridiculously easy to make and comes together quickly. Don’t worry, we won’t tell…
You can’t have a comfort food roundup without fried chicken. And what could be better than duck fat fried chicken on a fluffy bacon waffle with a sweet & spicy drizzle? A tiny version, of course! These petite portions are perfect for a party and will have your guests buzzing. But snack-sized fried chicken is also perfect for a cozy night with Netflix.
