6 Ideas for New Year’s Day Brunch

New Year’s resolutions begin on January 2 … everyone knows that. Obviously New Year’s Day is all about recovering from New Year’s Eve, not starting a new regimen. To that end, you will want a bountiful brunch (or breakfast, if you’re up early). Green juice optional.

Here are 6 recipes that offer savory and sweet (and a combination of both) options for the first brunch of 2017. Happy New Year!

1. DUTCH BABY PANCAKE WITH CANDIED BACON

Part-pancake, part-custard, part-soufflé, and totally delicious – this Dutch baby with candied bacon is what brunch dreams are made of. Best of all, it’s ridiculously easy to make, coming together quickly while you sip coffee. Candied bacon? Now that’s the way to start the new year.

2. FOIE-FFLES: STRAWBERRY WAFFLES WITH SEARED FOIE GRAS & BALSAMIC SYRUP

What’s better than chicken & waffles? Foie gras & waffles, bien sûr! Our recipe for foie-ffles combines seared foie gras with fresh strawberry waffles, strawberry sauce, and tart balsamic syrup. They’re perfect for an elegant New Year’s Day brunch. If there is any Champagne left, it will work nicely here.

3. TRUFFLE BUTTER POMMES ANNA

This classic French potato cake is crispy on the outside with a tender center. Black Truffle Butter adds earthy flavor while a bit of duck fat fat keeps the butter from burning. Duck fat and potatoes were made for each other… and these potatoes will go with eggs any way you like them.

4. BACON & CHEDDAR SCONES

These easy-to-make scones have crispy edges, a flaky yet tender interior, and are packed with flavor from our Applewood Smoked Bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and fresh chives. They’re equally delicious split and filled with scrambled eggs for brunch or simply eaten on their own, fresh from the oven.

5. SHIRRED EGGS WITH BACON & GRUYERE

Eggs! We haven’t forgotten them.  Make these creamy and rich shirred eggs, which are not only delicious but ridiculously easy to prepare. Our Applewood Smoked Bacon and a sprinkling of Gruyere add a salty, smoky bite that will help open your eyes and face 2017.

6. CHORIZO & POTATO HASH WITH EGGS

This recipe has it all – a little spice, a little decadence, and a lot of flavor. It’s super easy to make and will satisfy the heartiest of appetites. Our duck fat is the secret to getting perfectly crispy, golden brown potatoes, so don’t skimp on that ingredient.
