My favorite cookbook, because of the content and the author, is Vincent and Mary Price’s A Treasury of Great Recipes.

I was a strange kid. Vincent Price was one of my idols growing up, and continues to be. That being said, as I got older and my passion for food did the same, I found out that he had written a cookbook. This book was written at the height of the obsession with French cooking in America, and while it might seem a little dated, it’s still relevant and incredibly technical. From horror/suspense master to master chef, Vincent Price was no slouch in the kitchen. He had a very recognizable connection with food, not just a celebrity cookbook. And it just got reprinted after 50 years of being an eBay legend! – Bryan, Inside Sales

Yes, it’s true. The king of horror was actually a gentle soul with a passion for food. He was known for throwing great parties and cooking up a storm.

Originally published in 1965, A Treasury of Great Recipes, by Mary and Vincent Price, was reprinted for the 50th anniversary last year and is available on Amazon. Price’s daughter Victoria has a website with information about the book, and some lovely family photos.

Price wrote several cookbooks, had a cooking show, and recorded a series of audio cooking lessons in the 1970s. You don’t need the original LPs to hear his distinctive voice rhapsodizing about roasting pork with prunes, thanks to YouTube.
